Set in the 1800s on a snowy day, Simon, who is mentally retarded, follows Lucy and her younger brother home from school. Lucy has heard frightening rumors about the boy and is scared by his actions. Later she realizes that Simon's motivations have been pure and she begins to see him in a new light.
